For now, we suggest keeping your plans flexible. Due to continuous heavy rain, some hill-country areas (such as Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, and surrounding regions) may experience landslides, road closures, and travel delays. Conditions can change quickly. This doesn't mean the hill country is completely closed - just that flexibility is important until conditions improve.
Yes - most major roads between cities are open, and buses are operating.
No - the Kandy–Ella train is not running at the moment. Services are suspended due to weather-related track and safety concerns, and trains will resume only once conditions are confirmed safe.

Alternative: If you'd still like to experience a scenic train ride, we recommend south coast trains, especially early morning or evening sunset journeys, which are currently a safer and beautiful alternative.
